Formula

Fold type sets cut-strip width; strip joins or estimated continuous-bias area determine material.

Assumptions

  • Join allowance is lost from usable strip length.
  • Continuous bias is an area estimate.

When a tested commercial pattern gives different cutting dimensions or layout instructions, follow that pattern.

Worked example

  • 100 in edge
  • 1 in finished double-fold binding

The result lists unfolded strip width, strip count, joining loss, and purchase quantity.

Verification note

Test a short folded sample in the project fabric before cutting the full binding supply.
